“Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors.”
Play with purpose. Every practice pass is a chance to get better. Serve in practice 1 to 1, focused on alleys, or working to get topspin or perfect floats.
UCLA Coach John Wooden said of Bill Walton's greatness, "He never gets tired of practicing the little things, like footwork." In the national championship game, Walton shot 21 for 22 with his elite footwork getting elite separation and easier shots.
Everyone who knows MVB knew that there'd be 'rough seas' to navigate.
