Melrose traveled to Wilmington and swept the Cats 25-17, 25-9, and 25-11, evening its record at 3-3.
Looking to build momentum as the season progresses, Melrose needed this win. Climbing out of the second division is going to be a process as players improve and recover from injury.
Some individual names to recognize:
- Sabine Wenzel cleaned house at the net when opportunities arose.
- Elise Marchais had some good attacks from the outside.
- Danni DiGiorgio had a bushel of service points.
- Sabrina McArt had some moments blocking at Middle Hitter 2 (MH2)
- Emme Boyer returned from injury with impact serves.
There's plenty to work on as the service game showed both placement highs and service error lows. Serve-receive is a work in progress. "Laser focus" will need to be a priority to keep stronger teams from effecting comebacks.
Melrose Notes: Freshman Leila Kiggundu remains on the injured list with return still to be determined. The game was livestreamed on the Hudl.com site, presumably using the Pixellot system.
