Two things that have always stood out for me when walking in to an organization or team for the first time:

1. Energy never lies - the first person you encounter sets the standard. it’s either attractive or repulsive
2. Attitude — it’s either welcoming or threatening.
Ecosystem, the totality of a program's environment, matters. Coach Scott Celli and his staff bring the same energy and positivity today that have been fundamental for three decades.
In her Hall of Fame induction speech, Sarah McGowan emphasized how welcoming the program was, even for her as a young camper. Upperclassmen never "bigfoot" young players. There has never been a "kiss up" and "kick down" mentality to overcome.
Does that mean that everyone is happy with their playing time or role? Of course not. Everyone should want to contribute and be prepared to capitalize when the chance comes.
