A Critical Part of High School Sport Experience

Learning about leadership is an important part of your experience. Understand what leaders do and how.

• They provide mastery and structured preparation.
• They make everyone around them better.

Former UNC women's soccer coach Anson Dorrance had players read The Leadership Moment, nine curated stories of extraordinary leadership. It would be excellent summer reading.

One of my favorites was Arlene Blum leading an all-women's expedition to summit Annapurna, one of 14 Nepalese peaks over 8,000 meters. Two women summited and two died trying. Women have the capacity to face the challenges, endure the hardships, achieve greatness, and suffer the same consequences as men.
