Think about sets in terms of individual points. Defense coordinates the front and back row with getting "hands on" essential.
Multiple subskills determine blocking:
- Anticipating the attack (reading)
- Footwork (get there)
- Block tough with height, vertical jump, timing
- Hand position (press the block) and block 'stiffness"
The blocker with good anticipation, timing, and vertical jump who presses the block can be more effective than a tall blocker who is late with poorer technique. MVB is improving their blocking. Excellent blockers radiate a desire to excel.
Sabrina is on a solo block in the middle and uses vertical and strength to earn a block-kill.
