"It's what you get from games you lose that is extremely important"

"Love your losses." Losses dispense lessons. A few themes dominate.
1. Lack of focus. Poor focus hurts communication, connection, and execution. All impair a team's ability to "play harder for longer." Unfocused play allows one error to bleed into a momentum-changing series of errors.
2. Inconsistency. The best teams are the most consistent. Consistency means consistent preparation, consistent attitude, consistent compete level.
3. Lack of confidence. Almost twenty years ago we went to a basketball game against a neighboring town. The local girls were saying, "we'll probably lose by forty. Maybe if we're lucky, only thirty." You can't win if you've accepted defeat, regardless of sport. Use empowered body language, standing tall, head up, making yourself 'big'.
4. Overconfidence. MVB hasn't had many 'mental letdowns' leading to trap games. Usually, MVB has brought its best against the better teams. With tough non-league opponents and steady improvement in the ML12, being ready should be the standard.
5. Lack of resilience. Adversity shows up within sets and within matches. Strong teams learn to play both with leads and deficits. Training mental toughness with tools like mindfulness and visualization help.
Lagniappe. Mental repetitions have been shown to improve performance.
