Many years ago I coached a player who pushed back against everything. She didn't go to MHS. She ultimately became an All-League player in multiple sports and played a sport in college.
Her mother wrote me a note, informing me that her daughter finally "got it," realizing that coaching wasn't criticism but help to be her best self. The sooner players understand that, the better they become.
