Maxpreps.com tracks statistics entered by scorers. First, it's early in the season and second, sometimes 'weaker' teams can have more statistical leaders because they play more sets. If you're winning or losing in three sets, your numbers are smaller than if you had more sets played.
Sadie Jaggers is 26th in kills but higher in kills/set. Westborough's Quinn Anderson has an incredible 6.2 kills/set.
Leah Fowke is now at 23rd in assists but also higher in assists/set.
Grace Gentile is 30th in digs.
Ideally, Melrose will move up to about 12 kills/set and have at least three attackers with over 2 kills/set.
Normally, Melrose serves to around 92 percent. Some servers have higher risk/benefit "hard serves" versus float serves which may partially account for the lower numbers.
Grace Gentile at libero leads the team in serve receives.
Statistics are fun to track but it's important to recognize that every player can impact winning with teamwork, leadership, and other intangibles that matter. And it's not just raw numbers that matter. For example, attack efficiency (kills - errors)/attacks is an important number that's not tracked here.
