Your MVB Why

What's your MVB 'why'? Volleyball is fun. You enjoy the competition and the "MVB Experience." Other valid reasons can apply, too.

You could have joined the Swim Team, Robotics, Drama, or the MHS Band.

Other wonderful reasons exist for women to participate in sports

  • Better grades and graduation rates
  • More confidence and self-esteem
  • Less depression
  • Health benefits, lower rates of breast cancer and osteoporosis leading to fractures
  • Higher perceived well-being
  • "Sport is where boys have traditionally learned about teamwork, goal-setting, the pursuit of excellence in performance and other achievement-oriented behaviors—critical skills necessary for success in the workplace."
Some young women gain leadership skills from sports. Coaches like Scott Celli who model excellence help student-athletes become future leaders - leading their family, their community, and their careers.

Lagniappe. Consistency, caring, attention to detail, and time create leaders.

Lagniappe 2. Maybe you can't do all these at home. What can you do? Have you worked out with a teammate yet?
