Exceptional Teams Respond to Adversity

I've always taken pride in teams who were 'undertalented' yet competed at a high level and never quit.

MVB has a competitive ML12 schedule and plays top teams from around the state in non-league games. You won't always have the best players, but can still compete and sometimes win with 'hypercompetitive attitude'.

Expect to be 'punched in the face' sometimes. Pick yourself up and get back in the fight. Coaches remember who does.

Always be a worthy competitor. Anything less is unacceptable to your coaches and to top players. It should matter to you.

Here's a recent basketball example. St. Mary's (Lynn) crushed Bishop Fenwick twice by over thirty points last year in the regular season. They met again in the State Finals. SM had two D1 and one D2 scholarship commits. Cecilia Kay, then a junior, whom many of you know, kept BF in the game, scoring 23 points as they lost by four after being within two in final moments. That's competing against tall odds.
