The hardest person you’ll ever lead isn’t your team.

It isn’t your players.
It isn’t your kids.
It’s the one staring back at you in the mirror.
If you can’t live your own standards, why should anyone follow?
Lead yourself first. Always.
Learning to lead is a vital skill to acquire in high school. How?
- Practice leading every day.
- Listen.
- Be positive.
- Build people up.
- Model excellence.
- Be aware of leadership opportunities. When you see something, say something.
- Give and get feedback.
- "Think again." How can I do this better?
- Speak greatness. "That was excellent BUT" is less than "That was excellent AND."
- Consider keeping a leadership journal.
