Stoughton played in the tough Hockomock League with a host of quality clubs. Franklin (4) and Attleboro (7) are D1 powers. King Philip (2), Oliver Ames (5), and Canton (13) are high seeds from D2. Milford (21) is a possible D2 sleeper.
Stoughton will have to beat Holyoke to face Melrose on Friday.
Melrose has overcome tough draws to advance in the past. In 2005, they beat Central Catholic, probably the second strongest team in the North in the sectional quarterfinals. Then they beat Arlington Catholic and North Andover to win sectionals.
