The MIAA power rankings form the basis for tournament seeding in the All-State tournament. Last season Melrose entered the postseason as the five seed.
Power rankings reflect "Margin of Victory" (maximum 3 as in straight set win) and Opponent rating. Among the top 16 teams in D2, Melrose has the third highest strength of schedule. The system rewards dominance (winning in straight sets) and quality of opponents.
