Merchants of Truth

Coaches are "Merchants of Truth." We convey messages to players and need them to 'buy in'. I told Cecilia Kay in eighth grade that she was the best player I ever coached. That translated four years later to Globe and Herald "Dream Team" status, McDonald's All-America nomination, and a Division I scholarship. She earned all.

What's the Melrose 2025 truth?

  • Sabine Wenzel is on the cusp of Melrose "Mount Rushmore" status, a function of individual achievement and winning.
  • Emme Boyer is rounding into form after injury.
  • Junior Anna Burns holds the libero spot capably.
  • Sadie Smith is among the most accomplished young setters in MVB history
  • The sophomore class has four lineup regulars with positional dispersion (OH, RS, S, DS).
  • The freshman class has already played more than any prior frosh, including the team's number two attacker in total kills (Adriana Santoriello) and the number one and three servers re: service points.
  • The team has improved a lot since the opening match.
  • Coach Scott Celli is a Hall of Fame coach with pelts on the horse.
Melrose isn't bringing a cap gun to a gunfight.

Slogans, history, and wishes don't win. Performance does. It's there for the taking.
