As an 'evaluator', watch more than outcome. For a hitter, examine:
- Footwork
- Armswing - does it help "launch" the attack
- Timing
- Size, strength, court movement, vertical jump
- Decision making
- Versatiliy (types of attack)
- Contact point (higher is better)
Where "longitudinal" video is available, that allows progression. I share video when I find it:
Amelie Johnson (three-step attack 'reverses' to right-left-right for the lefthander)
Be aware of limitations of video, too. Sample size and selection (highlight) bias, anchoring and recency bias (what 'sticks'), availability heuristic (what comes to mind may not reflect broader reality).
