Not exactly health food but a delicious diversion.
It's best with homemade dough...a worthy skill to develop, a stand mixer certainly helps.
The prep time is relatively small.
Ingredients (copied directly from source):
– **Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)**: 1 lb (450g)– **Unsalted butter**: 4 tbsp (softened)
– **Garlic (minced)**: 4 cloves
– **Italian seasoning**: 1 tsp
– **Parmesan cheese**: ¼ cup (grated)
– **Mozzarella cheese**: 1 cup (shredded)
– **Olive oil**: 1 tbsp (optional for brushing)
– **Salt**: To taste
– **Fresh parsley (chopped)**: 2 tbsp (for garnish) OPTIONAL
Instructions:
1. **Prepare the Dough**: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about ½ inch thickness. Cut the dough into strips (about 1 inch wide).
2. **Make the Garlic Butter**: In a small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove. Add minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
3. **Brush the Dough**: Lay the dough strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each strip generously with the garlic butter mixture.
4. **Add Cheese**: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top of the buttered breadsticks, followed by a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
5. **Bake**: Place the breadsticks in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. **Finish**: Once out of the oven, brush the hot breadsticks with any remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
7. **Serve**: Allow the breadsticks to cool slightly before cutting them into individual servings. Serve with marinara sauce or ranch dressing if desired.
