Unfortunately, this sometimes creates 'distortions' where teams with outstanding records from weaker leagues are defeated by teams with mediocre records from better leagues. There hasn't been strong support for alternative procedures such as seeding according to Maxpreps.com computer rankings.
Maxpreps.com computer rankings (combines wins and strength of schedule). With few games played, this will fluctuate significantly with strength of schedule. All teams are not included because of limited numbers of games played.
