Last season Melrose struggled in non-league play, compiling a 2-5 record accompanying their 13-3 Middlesex League record. Yesterday, they leapfrogged that by beating Frontier, top-ranked in Division 3, looking to extend their fourteen year dominance in the Division 3 West bracket.
Melrose got strong performances from its seniors en route to victory.
Emma Randolph piled up 15 kills.
Senior captains Nicole Abbott, Erin Torpey, and Emma all had double digit digs and Mary Kate Mahoney added a half dozen.
In her second varsity game, Eva Haralabatos added 24 assists. Melrose had only two service errors for the match.
Melrose hosts Woburn in its home opener Tuesday with tipoff around 5:15. It's a great chance to see the Lady Raiders in action, looking to build momentum early in the season.
