The coach put all ten players on the court to start to the game. The officials called a technical foul for too many players in the game. The coach looked at the stands and said, "See, I told you I can only start five."
I recently spoke with a former college coach in another sport. He discussed an unhappy parent whose son wasn't getting much playing time. He explained that their son was there on scholarship and it was in everyone's interest, especially his (the coach) that the son succeed. But the player wasn't adjusting to the speed and intensity of the game.
Excel in your role while competing hard in preparation and practice to expand your role. Roles are not carved in stone.
