The MVB annual volleyball camp starts Tuesday. Players could set goals or set responsibilities. What does that mean?
Camp is opportunity. Be excited about it...and bring some cold drinks in your cooler or water bottle.
1) Support everyone there (Teamwork). If you're a young player, support the older girls on the MVB squad and your fellow campers. Bring energy and enthusiasm.
The cornerstones (corner blocks) of Coach John Wooden's Pyramid of Success are Industriousness (hard work) and enthusiasm. You can lead by doing the right things, the right way.
2) Improve. Here's a tip that All-State player Sadie Jaggers got from a former All-State teammate Gia Vlajkovic. "Don't focus on making a perfect pass; focus on making a good pass." Sharpen your fundamentals, such as platform skills for passing and serve receive, and footwork and arm swing for attacking. Top teams and top players execute the fundamentals well better than other teams.
When you walk out of the gym, be able to say, "I gave my best" and "I got better."
3) Have fun. Volleyball is fun. Getting better is fun. Getting great instruction and tips on improvement are fun. And playing well is fun. Today can be a great day.
Lagniappe (something extra). Does service starting location make a difference? Why do you think?
