The Power Rankings System

The MIAA published a Power Point presentation of their Power Rankings system. The results speak loudly. 

They emphasized simplicity, transparency, and accuracy. One slide is key. 

Girls basketball had the highest accuracy, over 90 percent. 

What does this mean for Melrose? 

• "You play the schedule." Focus on playing your best. 
• "A weak league and non-league schedule hurts." Melrose plays a challenging nonleague schedule. One team went undefeated (20-0) in the regular season, got a first round bye, and got bounced 3-0 in their opening game. Every team starts 0-0 in the playoffs. 
• You want a high seed to get the maximum number of postseason home games.
