Melrose has held the upper hand over Reading during the past decade, with the last Rocket win in 2018.

In the mid-2000s, the Melrose-Reading rivalry was intense and at times politically incorrect. The ML12 split into the Liberty (large) and Freedom (small) division diluted the large-small rivalries as the teams face each other only once during the regular season.
