Former Celtics' assistant coach Kevin Eastman told players, "You own your paycheck."
He meant that your commitment in terms of skill development, video study, strength and conditioning, and on-court effort determines your compensation.
MVB is no different. "Professionalism" in attitude, choices, and effort (including academics) parallels improvement, playing time, results, and recognition.
I don't know your parents well...or at all. I know their commitment to your personal development and happiness. None of them stand over you with a cattle prod warning, "If you don't do plyometrics, I'm lighting you up."
The MVB blog isn't a cattle prod either. Nobody knows if you're reading it. The goal is sharing information, asking questions, and providing learning opportunities.
Lagniappe. Becoming a better blocker is one avenue to earning more time. "You don't want to block the ball; you block the hitter."
