"Accountability begins and ends with you." - Kevin Hart, MasterClass
Years ago a player came to me and asked what she could do to get more time on the court. First, that was great because it was accountable. What I said was something like, "you have to be able to impact the game on both ends, not just shoot the basketball. You have to be able to defend."
Maybe you're not satisfied with your minutes, role, and recognition last season. That's a start. You heard the "nos" and you want the "yes" to come.
What are you willing to do? How uncomfortable are you willing to become? What sacrifices are you doing today?
Sabine Wenzel had one kill in 2022. She had 240 in 2023. And it's not only because she played more. There's a lot more for her to do. She can work on getting 'on top' of the ball on more attacks. She can work on setting other players. She can work on anticipating attacks and developing more lateral quickness, closing the outside double block. She can improve her hand position on blocks. She has the capability of becoming the most statistically dominant front row player in Melrose history.
Remember Kevin Hart's admonition, "accountability begins and ends with you."
