Photocopy a set of rankings and take them to your local coffee shop. Good luck trying to exchange them for a cup of joe, even a small one. You can use rankings as a motivational tool ("we get no respect"), validation ("I have value"), or ignore them entirely.
But the only poll that matters is the one taken at season's end. The poll below comes from Massachusetts High School Girls Volleyball, perhaps the Keyser Soze of volleyball.
Melrose's non-league schedule includes four of the above - AC, Central, Frontier, and Westboro - "the usual suspects."
Melrose travels to Stoneham today. The feature match du jour has superpowers Barnstable and Newton North squaring off in Newton.
