PlayDay: Writing Your Story

David Mamet says that you write your movie three times - writing, shooting it, and cutting it. At practice you’re writing, then playing you’re shooting, and then you’re cutting. You cut out the poor communication, the unintended serves, shanked balls, and so on. You want the final product to be its best.

Today, Melrose hosts its first “scrimmage jamboree” as schools including Fenwick, Danvers, Winchester, and others come for preseason round-robin competition. The PlayDay helps players and coaches edit their narrative.

And as Ron Howard says, “the movie is made in the cutting room.”

Volleyball action continues 9 - 3 today.
