Standings and Scheduling
You play the schedule...in the Middlesex League, that means you play the five teams within your division twice and the six in the other once (sixteen games). That leaves four to six non-league games (depending on availability) to schedule.
The non-league games allow you to enhance or degrade the competitiveness of your schedule. It also teaches you about 'editing' your execution, the sum of people, strategy, and operations.
Sometimes an opponent's schedule informs you of their intentions. The tougher the non-league schedule, the higher their ambitions.
Coach Scott Celli has arranged a quartet of tough non-league opponents this season, including three on the home docket. Melrose travels to Arlington Catholic and hosts Frontier Regional, defending State Champion Westborough, and Central Catholic. "To be the best, you have to beat the best."
