Melrose (9-0) remained unbeaten with a straight set 25-12, 25-10, 25-18 win over visiting Wakefield under sweltering conditions. The Lady Raiders executed a solid team effort to set up another battle Friday against the Arlington Catholic Cougars. Everyone saw action.
Lily Fitzgerald had another terrific day setting, serving, and defending and Saoirse Connolly earned the "Earth from a Bird's Eye View" honor with a flurry of kills. The other two senior captains, Lydia Lombardo and Jill Mercer performed at their usual high level.
"Catfight Friday" starts at 4 PM at the Veterans Memorial Middle School Gymnasium.
