Middlesex League standings. Reading lost to Longmeadow, last year's West sectional champion 3-2 on Saturday at Reading.
With few games played, no rankings are out at this time.
Losing to quality competition tends to produce more improvement in play than defeating weaker opponents, so that type of setback has value. Ambitious teams will play better non-league schedules.
