The Lady Raiders traveled to Newton North for their annual scrimmage with Richard Barton's club, led by six-foot setter Teresa Staulo.
Melrose seeks to develop consistency in all aspects of the game as they prep for Friday's opener against Lexington. Melrose showed flashes of their athleticism and youth, but continues to look to develop excellence in coordination between the back row and their counterparts up front.
Developing a crisp serve-receive game to feed the setter (Colleen Hanscom) who can deliver the ball to the hitters (Glavin, Hirschfeld, Brickley, Irwin, Howe) becomes critical to offensive volleyball. And beating good teams requires a power offense to wear them down.
Notice the soft hands of the libero, delivering perfect passes to the setters...
