• Have a clear personal philosophy, identity, and performance statement. 
• Your identity statement might be, "I'm an outside hitter who comes to play every day, physically and mentally prepared.”
• Your performance statement could include, "I make players around me better. I bring effort, energy, and technical skills to the court." 
• Study the game. 
• Be a great teammate by making teammates better. 
• Ask better questions. One of my favorites, a specialty of my wife Ellen, is "How can I help?"
• Craft your habits. You make your habits and your habits make you."
