Wayland recently clinched a tournament berth and comes to Melrose looking to spring the upset against the 2nd seeded Melrose Lady Raiders (18-2). Melrose comes in with an undefeated (16-0) Middlesex League season and its seventh consecutive Middlesex League title.
Melrose looks to go deep into the tournament, parlaying tournament experience (ten consecutive Division 2 North sectional finals), coaching experience (Hall of Fame coach Scott Celli), and senior experience led by back row defenders Jill MacInnes, Maave Moriarty, Cassidy Barbaro, and Alyssa Abbott and outside hitter Annalisa DeBari.
Wayland has a young team including six sophomores and brings youth and energy to the court.
Come out and support the girls as they begin their playoff journey at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School at 7:00 P.M. Saturday.
