Critical thinking pays dividends at home, in school, and in volleyball. What are some examples of critical thinking?
What really matters, the 'root causes' of success?
- Put the ball down.
- Keep the ball up.
Where do you generate 'positive points'?
- Service
- Block-kills
- Attacks
Where do you 'prevent' opponent scoring?
- Blocks
- Serve receive
- Digs
What controls the attack?
- It's not the first pass. That keeps the ball in play.
- The setter is the quarterback; she directs the attack.
- Playing "out of system" (non-setter makes the set) is vital to more attacks
What actions are underrated?
- Fundamentals - footwork and platform skills
- Consistency (avoiding bad plays)
- Aggressiveness
- Resilience (mental toughness and self-belief)
Volleyball is a thinking person's sport. "Do more of what works and less of what doesn't."
