Melrose completed its first round against the Freedom Division with a 25-4, 25-13, 25-19 home win against cellar-dwelling Stoneham.
The win boosts Melrose's record to 8-1 headed into Wednesday's annual tough clash with John Fleming's Winchester Red and Black.
The first set was all Leah Fowke, who took over the service line leading 5-4 and proceeded to run twenty straight to close the set. This was the longest I've seen since circa 2004 when Marianne Foley ran off 28 in a row against Hamilton-Wenham.

Sets two and three saw Melrose Coach Scott Celli sprinkle in less experienced and younger players to both reward their hard work and help them get a chance to prove themselves.
