Resilience Stories

"That which we are, we are, and if we are to be any better, now is the time to begin." - Alfred Lord Tennyson

The biggest problem with being smart is claiming ignorance. The same goes for resilience. MVB has reams of resilience narratives.

Exhibit 1. Melrose at Billerica, Sectional Championship 2021

Exhibit 2. Melrose at Duxbury, Sectional Championship 2022  Melrose slays the undefeated Dragons on the road.

Exhibit 3. Melrose defeats defending State Champion Frontier. You achieved a statement win in five sets.

Exhibit 4. Tied at 13 in set five at Winchester, Melrose gets consecutive winners to seal the win against a quality opponent. Winchester has played well recently to move up to #19 in the D1 rankings.

Exhibit 5. Down two sets at Wakefield and 6-10 in set five, Melrose goes 9-3 down the stretch to stay unbeaten in the Freedom Division.

"Confidence comes from proven success" says former NFL coach Bill Parcells.

When fully engaged, you have the ability to win against solid teams at home or on the road. Few teams are good enough to beat good teams, especially on the road, unless fully committed, enthusiastic, focused.

Build momentum during the final week of the season, headed into the playoffs.
