Infusion of Talent Boosts Varsity Club

Melrose volleyball thrives with continual talent infusion. With six seniors graduating, Melrose has opportunity ahead. Melrose's junior varsity has a wealth of talent from which Coach Scott Celli picked two players for promotion for now.

Varsity promotion isn't symbolic or decorativeNor is it new.

In 2002, Paula Sen found herself playing right side helping the team to a 6-1 record down the stretch and a memorable playoff win over Dracut. The great Hannah Brickley was a varsity starter as a freshman. Victoria Crovo was the best Melrose player on the floor in a sectional championship loss to Bishop Fenwick. As a frosh, Emily Hudson helped Melrose win a set against a powerful Winchester team during her promotion. All eventually became All-State selections. I'm sure I've omitted others.

Yes, I've intentionally buried the lede. New varsity players are defensive specialist, sophomore Maggie Turner and middle hitter, freshman Sabine Wenzel. Congratulations. Compete to help the team grow and to impact winning.
