A Cautionary Tale...Champions Take Care of Business

The name alone, Lexington, suggests a cautionary tale. If Vegas had betting back in 1775, it would have laid heavy odds on the British, even taking into account the 'home field advantage'.

Fast forward to 2022.

Facts to consider about Lexington:
  • They are currently a D1 playoff team.
  • They are fighting for their playoff lives.
  • They have size.
  • They took a set from both Woburn and Burlington, both upper echelon ML12 teams.
Coming off a 'signature win' against Winchester, Melrose can't let down. Build momentum coming down the stretch.

Have a chip on your shoulder. In 2005, Melrose won an early season match at Lexington. The Lexington coach, a future MVCA Hall of Famer, told a couple of Melrose players, "we should have beaten you today."

Players remember. The rematch at the Roosevelt School told a tale. The first set, Melrose won 25-3. A Melrose player passed the coach and said, "is that enough for you?"

Confidence comes from proven success. Make a statement every time you take the floor. Champions take care of business.
