Stan Van Gundy said something crucial for players at all levels. Every team has 2-3 players whose job is to score.

Playing Time & Value = How you can impact winning & excel in your Role.
HS Recruits: Coaches evaluate how you can help them win, not if you can score 30 on 20+ shots
Imagine that you show up at tryouts and there are no nets and no volleyballs. Instead, Coach Scott Celli and his staff are seated at a table with a chair in front of them. You will be called to answer one question. "How will you impact MVB success this season?"
I will pick on a player as an example. I don't think she'll mind, too much.
"I intend to present my case examining both intangibles and statistics, beginning with intangibles.
Leadership matters. As a senior leader, I model excellence every day at practice with focus and enthusiasm. I bring energy and energize the team. Everyone hears my presence. I am the loudest voice on the court and usually in the gym* (*name withheld). Nobody communicates better than I do.
As a mentor, I will help develop young defensive specialists who will follow in the MVB tradition. I learned the proverb from the blog, "old men plant trees in whose shade they will never sit."
I am not going to lead the team in scoring via attacks or blocks. But I have a proven track record in impacting winning. I led MVB 2023 with 270 service points. I was second in both serve receptions and in digs behind our all-star libero Grace Gentile.
As a leader, motivator, and defender, I am a winner and will help MVB succeed this season."
That is a winning argument.
