Melrose traveled to face top-ranked Westborough and left disappointed with a 25-12, 25-10, 25-9 defeat. Player of the Year Quinn Anderson dominated and racked up her 1,000th career kill.
The Rangers led 'box to wire' with superior play. Melrose was unable to mount much resistance.
Big wins over Wakefield and Burlington earlier this week couldn't translate into sustained momentum.
Melrose gets back into action Monday at Wilmington in a week with Monday-Wednesday-Friday games, culminating with another tough matchup against Division 1 leader Newton North.

Melrose's average margin drops to 1.705 and its OPRAT rises to 2.171 which recalculates to 3.876 likely to keep them in similar ranking.
Next week's first two opponents (Wilmington and Stoneham) both have negative OPRAT which will definitely drop Melrose, probably to either position six or seven.
It is a virtual certainty that Melrose can at best hope for a pair of home playoff matches in their search for a three-peat Sectional Championship.
