Game 14: Melrose 3 Lexington 0 Dome, Sweet Dome

Melrose capped a strong week against the ML12 Liberty Division with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 win at Lexington. The win boosts Melrose to 10-4 and they should add about 3.95 ratings points to their totals. I expect the new MIAA ratings will place Melrose in fourth in Division 2.

After the big win Tuesday over Winchester, Melrose avoided a "trap game" with a straight set win.

In the first set they trailed 8-4 and 13-8 but responded down the stretch to seal the deal.

The second set was close early but Melrose expanded leads of 11-10 and 17-14 and finished with an 8-3 run to gain momentum.

Set three was tied at 9 but Melrose made a run to go up 17-14 with a hot streak from Gia Vlajkovic. Leah Fowke had a service run helping Melrose take the match home.

Melrose Notes: Melrose has one game remaining with the Liberty Division, hosting Arlington Monday. They finish with five Freedom Division opponents. Four of their final six matches are home contests.

ML12 Note: Wakefield is on the rise under the leadership of Kayla Wyland.
