In addition to their Middlesex League schedule, the Lady Raiders will now face Division 2 South power Bishop Feehan at Feehan on October 28th. One of the keys to Melrose's postseason success has been playing tougher regular season competition.
During Melrose's five consecutive Division 2 North final appearances, they have upgraded their preseason schedule playing in the Medway Jamboree, and faced solid competition like Haverhill, Arlington Catholic, and Central Catholic.
Coach Scott Celli wants to ensure that the only "cupcakes" showing up for non-league games are brought by the families for the players.

Schedule Upgrade, Big Time
Coach Scott Celli looks to upgrade the Lady Raiders volleyball competition this year, and has scheduled a match at Barnstable, which has mostly been perennial D1 state champion. Melrose will travel to Barnstable October 23rd.
Melrose has been the runnerup in Division II North the past two seasons, losing to AC in 2006 and Central Catholic in 2007. The Lady Raiders had previously had won three consecutive D2 North titles.
Melrose returns a young but experienced team this season, led by All-State middle hitter Hannah Brickley, setter Colleen Hanscom, and power outside hitter Laura Irwin. Melrose has experience on defense with Jess Farr and Kelly O'Neill and many young players competing for playing time.
The team has always had terrific competition for playing time, leading to success within both league and post-season play.
