Modeling Excellence as a Leader

Challenge your belief system with facts.

Everyone can lead. Lead by serving (humility), by elevating others around you (growth), and controlling your ego (avoiding narcissism). Part of your MVB experience includes becoming a better teammate, a better player, and a better leader.

You learn leadership from your family, teachers and coaches, and for some, intensive observation and study of how the world works.

Whom do your respect (e.g. teachers, coaches, leaders) and why?

1. Leaders connect with followers.

2. Leaders motivate followers to do the right things.

3. Leaders inspire.

4. Leaders do the hard work of preparation and attention to detail.

5. Leaders communicate clearly, honestly, and with integrity.

What leaders might you choose to rank lower?

1. Lesser leaders put themselves first.

2. Lesser leaders don't take care of their people.

3. Lesser leaders find many problems and few solutions.

4. Lesser leaders are lazy.

5. Lesser leaders are vague, dishonest, and shady.

Which type of leader do you choose to follow and model?

Lagniappe.

Need more proof? The list goes on and on.

  • How Champions Think (Golf)
  • The Head Game (Baseball)
  • Legacy (Rugby)
  • Toughness (Basketball)
  • The Inner Game of Tennis (Tennis)
  • The Vision of a Champion (Soccer)
