Game 12: Melrose 3 Wilmington 0

Melrose hosted Wilmington and emerged with a 25-10, 25-11, and 25-8. The win runs the Melrose win streak to seven and boosts Melrose to 9-3, one win away from postseason qualifying.

Melrose dominated throughout, the first set on the strength of attacks from Sabine Wenzel and Adriana Santoriello.

Melrose substituted liberally, especially in the second and third sets and everyone saw action.

Particularly noteworthy performances (in addition to the usual suspects) came from:

  • Ella Friedlaender with numerous strong attacks
  • Danni DiGiorgio and Anna Burns serving
  • Gen Overlan with consistent serving and defense
Melrose Notes: Melrose travels to Arlington Thursday looking to secure a postseason spot. Leila Kiggundu has progressed out of the boot with a lower body injury.

Another varsity call-up of a freshman, as lanky lefty Amelie Johnson (right side attacker) becomes a record fifth freshman on varsity. She has hit the ball well recently in JV action and has blocking potential.
