Every season ends in tears. Sometimes tears of joy and others tears of sadness. Tears wash the soul.
There's losing and there's competing as worthy competitors. MVB left it all on the court at Longmeadow with no cause for regrets.
Coach Scott Celli, "Girls played their hearts out. I couldn't be prouder in defeat."
Sofia and Sabine did everything possible with 23 and 17 kills respectively. Leah was Leah splitting time among setting and outside. Maggie and Gg were solid on defense. There was a lot to like from sophomore Anna Burns and freshmen Sadie Smith and Elise Marchais. Both had their chances and took solid swings. Alex Homan had to defend and set. Abby Dennison had some positive moments, especially in the third set.
1) What went well?
- Comebacks and resilience trailing 2-0.
- Veterans stepped up and young players got a growth experience.
- Sometimes you can't make enough plays. That's life.
- Excellent process won't always yield winning results. Give credit to Longmeadow, an undefeated team.
- Sustainable competitive advantage comes from blending youth and experience.
- Play as worthy competitors. Praise the praiseworthy.
- Celebrate a career game. Sofia Papatsoris fit that description.
