Game 9: Melrose 3 Watertown 0

There's only so much water in the well and Melrose volleyball hosted  Watertown (known best as a field hockey superpower), winning 25-9, 25-12, 25-6 at the Middle School. The win moves Melrose to 8-1 ahead of Thursday's showdown at Lexington.

Everyone had their collective fingers in the pie. Leah Fowke is always excellent at setter, while Anna Burns pitched a shutout in relief. Melrose had a strong game at the service line finding a lot of seams, especially from Leah and Gg Albuja.

Ava Perrotti had an excellent outing at outside hitter and serving. Normally on the right side, "Little Middle" Abby Dennison had a strong game in relief.

Freshmen Ella Friedlaender and Elise Marchais both had their moments with four kills (unofficially) for Ella, and Elise made a great dig off a bomb in the third set.

Most importantly, Melrose seemed to come out healthy, missing senior middle Sofia Papatsoris in a walking boot. Maggie Shoemaker has filled in admirably for Sofia.
