Creating a Learning Culture

Hat tip Brook Kohlheim

We get what we accept and what we encourage and reward. Be a 'learn-it-all' not a know-it-all.

This HBR article suggests ways to encourage a learning culture

1) Reward it.

2) Give feedback (backward looking) and advice (forward looking).

3) Model excellence (be the example).

4) Surround yourself with curious people.

Learning comes from many modes:

  • Listening
  • Watching game film, game play, and teaching video
  • Participation - many skills must be learned by doing.
  • Teaching skills to others
  • Preparing lectures and lessons for others
