Pay It Forward

Coaches change lives. Coaches make a difference. We develop relationships that last lifetimes.

Return to the "Achievement Equation."

ACHIEVEMENT = PERFORMANCE x TIME

Performance isn't synonymous with "wins and losses," championships, or recognition for players, although those matter.

In a relationship business, performance means the people whom players become.

Players "pay it forward" in many ways. Kayla Wyland played on the State Championship team in 2012 and now pilots the Wakefield volleyball team. Victoria Crovo is in the latter stages of veterinary school. Many others are parents, community leaders, successful as educators, in business, and in other fields.

I keep notes from players. Here's an excerpt:

"I hope one day that I will be able to make a huge difference in someone's life and be a mentor to them as you have been to me."

Pay it forward.

Lagniappe. Weather the storm.

At some point, mature teams come out with the attitude that they're taking care of business.
