History May Not Repeat, But It Rhymes

Love your losses. Melrose will regroup after the tough loss at North as they approach the halfway mark in the season.

Your response to adversity is your identity. During the 2005 campaign, the team had an early season win against a Middlesex League opponent. After the game, the losing coach told the Melrose players, "you didn't deserve to win today." That remark fueled the rematch at the Roosevelt. Melrose won the opening set 25-3. Take down the trash talk with your play.

Melrose faces a pair of tough Liberty division foes this week.

Melrose had five attackers with at least six kills at North, led by Elena Soukos (16) and Gia Vlajkovic with a career high eleven.

Melrose's service accuracy was slightly below average at 87 percent last night.

Emma Desmond had another productive evening with 32 assists.

During the 2012 State Championship run, Melrose's only defeat (3-2) came at the hands of Newton North. "History may not repeat, but sometimes it rhymes."

Around the Net: The Melrose Weekly News updates the season.

To the victor goes the spoils. The Boston Globe profiled North. They had Melrose at four and North at nine in their top 20 rankings.

If you want to be the Top Gun, fuel up. There is nothing quite like watching air ops on an aircraft carrier. Been there.
