Tradition: Updated Standings
As the season progresses, the crystal ball starts to clarify. Duxbury staked out a claim to possible Division 2 supremacy with a 3-2 win against previously undefeated Westborough. This could have been a preview of the Division 2 semifinals. Duxbury has also defeated Hingham, Feehan, Quincy, and North Quincy, all traditional South powers.
Winchester moved into Division 1 this season. In the North, Melrose and the Hamilton-Wenham Generals continue to lead. Melrose and Hamilton-Wenham have common opponents in Reading and Woburn. Melrose scrimmaged Lynnfield, whom the Generals defeated 3-2 in their first match. Lynnfield's (new to D2) other loss came to Division 1 North Andover.
Medfield's three losses have come at the hands of Medway, Barnstable, and surging Hopkinton as Jack Hastings' Warriors are a perennial threat in the Central. Medway's sole loss came to Hopkinton. Longmeadow may be the top team in the West, their loss to Frontier (3-2).
The top four in strength of schedule, according to Maxpreps.com are Walpole, Medfield, Natick, and Barnstable, all in D1.
It looks as though the competition is wide open in D2.
