Adversity
"One game doesn't define our season. Our goal is to win the last game of the season." - Coach Scott Celli
In 2004, Melrose faced Reading in the North Shore League jamboree at the end of the season...and lost. They rebounded to win in the postseason, beating Reading, en route to consecutive North sectional championships.
In 2012, unbeaten Melrose hosted Newton North in the finale of the regular season...and lost. They swept through the postseason and won a State Championship.
Teams define themselves through their response to challenge and adversity. Adversity is our companion on life's journey.
We define our performance by asking better questions:
1. What went well?
2. What went poorly?
3. How can we do better?
4. What are the enduring lessons of an activity?
You write your narrative. What kind of story will you tell and how will you tell it?
